My Barracuda is not one of those. It’s also not a good ten footer, twenty footer, fifty footer, or satellite in space-er. It is a rusty old bucket of bolts and it is PERFECT.
I always wanted to have a car with a rusty spot that I could patch with sheet metal pop riveted in place, and now you know what? I’ve got like fifty of them! It’s more rust than car. It’s at least 51% speed holes.
In all honesty, the parts that need to be solid are solid and the parts where it’s basically okay to be Swiss cheese are Swiss cheese. The engine is stuck, but the guy only ever tried to turn it by the fan when it was in the car, so I expect to be able to free it up.
It’s gonna be so bad you guys! Oh my god, it’s going to be a joke, and it’s going to make old people mad, and it's going to be absolutely hilarious. I can't wait to start working on this chunk of shit.

Imagine the skills you’ll pick up restoring this thing ... have you self-imposed a deadline?

Good southern cars are found away from the coastline but not too close to the mountains. If they are near the mountains, then it’s 50/50 if they’ve been driven on salted roads or not. Still, bitchin’Cuda.

I know exactly how you feel.
Like our cars probably have the same smell, structural integrity, and percentage of rusty body parts.
It’s a great feeling.

I was a wee one when my mom had one of those cars. It was awesome.

Here in the Midlands, I see so many vehicles that should have rusted away by now. It’s amazing.

Nah, if I had the budget and time I’d be done in a month...but instead I've got a 6 month old son, so it'll get done whenevs. It'll also get done cheaply, I've got an offer in on an Edelbrock intake manifold, a 4 bbl, and a set of valve covers: $50 and a case of beer. Literally every expense will be spared here.

Da fuq is structural integrity? My Barracuda hasn't heard of that since the 70s. I'm gonna need a roll cage just to keep it all from falling apart the first time it flexes.

Spending time in Oklahoma reminded me that cars there never die. They may sit for decades, but they never seem to make it to a crusher. It really is a fantastic place to find a good project car.

Must be true, this thing lived in Connecticut for 52 years and it's definitely not restorable if you actually want a good one...but I don't want a good one, I want a really bad one, haha.
